Mary Rowlandson, an immigrant to the colonies, was a mother and a ministers wife surviving peacefully in the town of Lancaster when her family was savagely m urdered and she was taken hostage by her attackers as ransom. In A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration, Rowlandson depicts her living during her time of get hold of and we see how her characterization of these people changes over time.
